On September 15th 2015 a training workshop for female farmers had been organised in collaboration of the Belle Vue Farmers’ Cooperative and the Caribbean Aqua-Terrestrial Solutions Programme. The session focused on Natural Pest Control and showed farmers which pesticides they can “cook” with natural ingredients found in their immediate environment.
Thaddeus Constantin, Agronomist at the Ministry of Agriculture, facilitated the session at Belle Vue. After a short introduction in the classroom Mr Constantin instructed different groups in the production of a Guava Extract, Onion-Garlic-Mixture, Compost-Tea, Bay Leaf Oil Extraction, and Mixed Leaf-Tea. The groups produced samples on site and learned about their uses to treat various pests and diseases.
The information had been captured in a booklet available for download below.
