Impressive results emanating from the implementation of the African Cashew Initiative (ACi), a public-private venture that provides sustainable livelihoods for more than 330,000 farmers in five countries, has sparked interest in exploring the potential for up-scale cashew (Anacardium occidentale) production and processing in the Caribbean. Within this context, the Caribbean Aqua-Terrestrial Solutions (CATS) program in collaboration with the ACi commissioned a study entitled “Cashew Potential Analysis: Assessment of the Potentials in the Cashew Value Chains in the Caribbean.” The assignment aimed to conduct preliminary investigations to determine the status and potential for cashew value chain development within the region.
